STYLES OF HEARING AIDS

When choosing hearing aids, it is important to understand they come in various types to fit your hearing loss and lifestyle.

Invisible in the Canal (IIC)

Very discreet hearing aids that sit completely inside the ear canal and are virtually invisible though not entirely hidden. They fit clients with hearing loss from mild to moderately severe. The physical size and shape of your ear canal can also restrict the option of having this style.

Completely in the Canal (CIC)

Small and discreet designed to fit inside the ear canal and suitable for people with mild to moderate hearing loss. The slightly larger size accommodates an optional button that allows you to manually control settings for different environments.

In the Canal (ITC)

More visible than a CIC and designed to fit in the entrance of your ear canal. They are easier to manage if you have dexterity issues

In the Ear (ITE)

Available in half shell which fills only the lower part of the outer ear, and full shell which fills most of the outer ear. Used by those with mild to severe hearing loss.

Behind the Ear (BTE)

This type of hearing aid hooks over the top and behind and sound is delivered via hollow tube that connects the hearing aid to a custom earpiece that sits in the ear canal. Are well suited to almost any type of hearing loss.

Receiver in the Canal (RIC)

One of the most popular types of hearing aids available on the market today. Designed to sit behind the ear, a lot smaller in size and use a thin receiver/wire. Available with Bluetooth connectivity to mobile phones and are rechargeable.
